How do I order a custom portrait?

I’m glad you asked! Before we get into the details, I want to say thank you for making the choice to acquire my services for your custom portrait! You’re not just ordering a product, you’re helping a small business put food on the table and pay the bills. Hats off to you!

Ok, so you want to commission me for a portrait but you’re not sure how to get started. The process is very easy, painless, and is completed in only a few steps:

1. Choose the photograph you want drawn or painted (photo requirements and examples are below) and what medium you want it completed in.
2. Email the photo to me for approval. Feel free to send multiple photos if you need help deciding which will translate best into a painting or drawing.
3. Once we have chatted about your commission, I’ll send you a PayPal invoice for the down
payment and get to work once the payment is received!

That’s it! You’re done! Now kick back and wait for me to send you updates on how your commission is coming along. I generally send my clients updates every week so they can see how the process is coming along.

Photo Requirements

Because of the highly detailed nature of my work, I require high resolution reference photos that depict a lot of detail. As a general rule, when you zoom in on the face of the subject, you should be able to see strands of hair or fur, reflections in eyes, etc. If you can see these details clearly, then it is a photo I can work with. To clear things up, here are a couple examples of what does and does not work for reference photos

I do not accept physical photos by mail

GOOD REFERENCE PHOTOS

When you click on these images, you can clearly see a lot of detail. They are all in focus with great lighting and the subject can clearly be seen.

POOR REFERENCE PHOTOS

Each of these photos has its own issue(s). They are blurry, feature bad lighting, have “glow eyes’ from the camera flash, taken from too far away, or are a screenshot of a Facebook/Instagram photo. These type of photos are not usable.
